Client Background
A wastewater treatment plant in Metro Manila, Philippines treats 20,000 m³ of sewage daily. Its existing shafted screw conveyors frequently jam when moving dewatered sludge. Fibers and hair wrap around the center shaft, forcing weekly plant shutdowns for cleaning. Odor leaks from open troughs worsen the working environment.
Challenges
- Eliminate wrapping and jamming caused by fibrous, sticky sludge.
- Achieve fully enclosed conveying to stop odor spread.
- Handle high moisture and mild corrosion with durable materials.
- Reduce manual cleaning and unplanned downtime.
Solution
Yingda finishes manufacturing three shaftless screw conveyors on June 14. We equip them with a shaftless design, full sealed tube housing, automatic cleaning ports, and variable frequency drives. The shaftless spiral runs flush against a wear resistant liner nothing wraps around it.

Implementation & Results
All three shaftless screw conveyors complete smooth full load sludge tests. They leave Qingdao port on June 15 and arrive in Manila North Harbor in early July. The plant will run continuous sludge discharge without jamming, eliminate odor leakage, and cut maintenance stops by over 90%.
Client Comments
“Yingda’s shaftless screws end our weekly clogging nightmare. No more wrapping, no more smell. The shaftless screw conveyor design simply works for wet sludge.”
